Rheumatology

Care begins with assessing the concerns and needs of each individual, with communication of information that increases understanding of the disease process, allays anxiety, and enhances coping skills. Treatment plans are individualized and are designed to maximize safety, address the most troubling symptoms, anticipate and minimize future problems, and reflect up-to-date knowledge.
In our outpatient clinic we offer sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care of patients with all kind of rheumatic diseases and bone disorders. After diagnostic procedures and etablishing a diagnosis the patient will be offered a special treatment for its distinct rheumatic disease.

Patients contact the clinic or are referred by specialists for conditions including the following:

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
    (chronic polyarthritis) Inflammation of numerous joints, especially of the hands and feet
  • Ankylosing spondylitis and other spondarthropathies
    (including diseases of the axial and thoracic skeleton with some peripheral arthritis)
  • Crystal-induced-Arthritis following bacterial infections
    (reactive or post-infectious arthritis/riding syndromes, infectious and parainfectious arthritis) such as Lyme arthritis, Chlamydia-induced arthritis, Yersinia-induced arthritis, etc. 
  • Psoriatic Arthritis
    (Joint infestation with and without psoriasis)
  • Periarthropathies and enthesiopathies
  • Sjogren's Syndrome (with dry eyes and mouth) and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
    i.e. inflammatory connective tissue diseases such as lupus erythematosus, Sjögren's syndrome, polymyositis, etc.
  • Vasculitis (inflammation of the vessels)
    i.e. inflammatory vascular diseases with rheumatism such as polymyalgia rheumatica, Wegener's disease and Churg Strauss syndrome
  • Gout (and other metabolic joint diseases) Hormone- and metabolism-related rheumatic diseases (e.g. gout and other crystal-induced arthritides) and fibromyalgia syndrome.
  • Osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease) and Osteoporosis (Bone loss) Treatment of bone diseases
in particular Osteoporosis with bone density measurement, laboratory tests to determine the bone condition in osteoporosis in our well-equipped laboratory.
